I had a roof tile that managed to make its way to the guttering where fortunately a friend spotted it and bought it to safety. Then the fun began. It has been very wet and windy here so I knew the odds of someone fixing it sooner rather than later were remote. I posted on our local Facebook page and nothing. Tried again nothing. The rain and wind were relentless, and I was beginning to get worried about the possibility of water getting in.
In desperation I posted a third post suggesting that perhaps Father Christmas could be coerced to swing by and put the unbroken tile back, and lo and behold finally had several responses. I was so pleased. It was popped back in its original position so all good and the cost was nominal. I had been quoted over £300 which I considered to be extortionate although looking at the comments some but few felt that was totally acceptable. When did things get so bad. Have no problem with paying a fair price for a job completed.
Its strange because at the other end of the spectrum there are those who are happy to help out and don’t charge the earth. We need more of these in all our lives.
