Weekends luv em or loath them

In my younger days I always looked forward to my weekends. Taking it easy, going on walks with the dogs, and even cooking lunch for the family. How times have changed. I want someone to cook my lunch, take me out for walks but. that isn’t very likely. Families are spread across the world and those days are hard to recapture. I miss them. However to get back to what you are up to during the weekends.

I find some weekends are very enjoyable-others are a drag, but I do much of my phoning over the weekend. I have long standing friends of over 50 years and I do my very best to see how they are and what they are up to. Its so important to catch up and I hate it when I receive texts from some of them, not a lot to be fair. Don’t they understand they need someone to talk with not read a passage on a phone. Unfortunately several of my friends have died and I miss the conversations we shared. I have an old fashioned address book and its getting smaller by the year. In some cases I can still hear their voices talking to me. Moral here is pick up the phone.

Today I have a feeling that it is going to be on the quiet side. My daughter is unwell so won’t be visiting and as I get older i find that things are getting ever more difficult. Like changing the bed, getting the coal in. I hear you say coal? I had a wood burner installed several years ago and its wonderful. Keeps me and the house very toasty but of course have to go outside with the coal scuttle to get the black stuff in. Even in the past two years I can see a difference in my ability to get things done. Even washing up is a chore and the kitchen is on the small side so a dishwasher is unlikely to work u nless I have a table top version. Cooking is another problem so many of my meals are on the easy side, although I do try and cook most things but allow myself one day off when I buy a ready made meal but much prefer the real deal.
